UBC’s Museum of Anthropology (MOA) is pleased to present a dramatic exhibition of Portuguese popular art. Heaven, Hell & Somewhere In Between: Portuguese Popular Art is on display May 12 – October 12, 2015. Curated by MOA’s own Anthony Shelton, this extraordinary collection – the largest of its kind in North America – will include an eclectic mix of graffiti and mural paintings, puppets, figurines, carnival masks, and more. Displays will reflect the national identity, history, and creativity of Portugal from a passing generation of great craftspeople, illustrators, and painters, as well as that of young urban graffiti artists working today.
