Formerly known as the BC Paraplegic Association, Spinal Cord Injury BC (SCI BC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping people with spinal cord injuries—and other physical disabilities—adjust, adapt and thrive in their communities.
We achieve our goal with two core programs: Information Services and Peer Services.
The Provincial Peer Program provides social connections and unique life experiences to individuals with a SCI, their families and friends across the province. We host events ranging from coffee groups to bungee jumping and kayaking to encourage people to get out in their communities and stay active. We also provide peer mentoring opportunities, so that people with new injuries can benefit from the wisdom and knowledge of those who have more experience of living in a wheelchair.
Our Information Services program helps people access all kinds of information relevant to living well with a spinal cord injury, both online and over the phone. Our InfoLine staff answer toll-free calls eight hours a day, five days a week. Whether someone needs help finding accessible housing, meaningful employment, special equipment and any other resources, we’re here to help. If we don’t know the answer, we’ll help you find it.
