Dancers of Damelahamid and the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at UBC present the 2016 Coastal First Nations Dance Festival, March 1 to 6, 2016 at MOA.

An annual celebration of Indigenous stories, songs, and traditional dances, artists from across coastal BC, Alberta, Ontario, Yukon, and Washington State will present illuminating perspectives on their distinct cultures.

Highlights include performances from the festival’s first-ever smoke dancer, award-winning Tesha Emarthle from Ohsweken, Ontario; the festival debut of Edmonton-based contemporary hoop dancer and hip hop performer James Jones, who has performed extensively with pow wow drumming-infused electronic group A Tribe Called Red; and an exclusive preview of Dancers of Damelahamid’s anticipated world premiere of the innovative masked dance, Flicker.

Festival Stage performances included in regular MOA admission.
