Laudate Singers heralds the Christmas season with a grand afternoon of sumptuous French Baroque music. Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit pour Noël is a Midnight Mass for Christmas with a delightful use of familiar French Christmas carols. His regal Te Deum (H.146) is stunningly brilliant; its beginning has been popularized as the theme song for the annual Eurovision Song Contest.
Also on the program is Jean-Joseph Mouret’s collection of fanfares, Premiere Suite des Symphonies – which includes the theme of Masterpiece Theatre!
The Singers will be joined by a 13-piece Baroque orchestra including violins, violone, harpsichord, Baroque trumpet, recorders, theorbo and timpani.
This festive concert is enhanced by the glow of dozens of candles and a reception including French sweets for audience and musicians during the intermission.
