The Devil with the Three Golden Hairs is a little-known fairytale by the Bothers Grimm. It turns the tables upside down on many things: robbers become helpers, grandmothers have magical powers, and the king is anything but kingly.
The child of good fortune saves the day with the devil’s help. This performance is a collaboration between the coworkers and mixed ability adults of the Cascadia Society and students of the Vancouver Waldorf School. It is a fairytale presented in eurythmy, an art of movement which makes the words of the story and the accompanying music visible.
Eurythmy was inaugurated by Rudolf Steiner over 100 years ago. It is especially suited to fairytales because the movements and colours stimulate free and lively imaginative pictures in the viewers.Music played on hand bells, lyres and other instruments is composed by Lorna Fortin.
