Opening on February 22nd, 2014 is the exhibition ‘It’s Not You, It’s Me,’ by contemporary painter Fiona Ackerman. The show runs from February 20th – March 29th, 2014. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, February 22nd from 2-4pm; the artist will be in attendance.
It’s Not You, It’s Me sees Ackerman tackle the highly intimate subject matter of other artists’ studios through her own transformative sensibility. Over the past few years, Ackerman has documented the environments in which eminent Canadian artists – from Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun to Ron Moppett – produce their work. Beyond merely representing them, Ackerman crosses her own symbols and mannerisms into these singular spaces. The result are paintings that are playful yet exact, which are – as the exhibition’s title suggests – just as much about Ackerman’s own artistic history as they are of her subjects’.
