Flat Nine is a recording and performing group on Vancouver Island, BC. For the last five years, they have been entertaining audiences from all over the world in their own private venue, The Downtown Social Club.
Their fascination and love of many genres has compelled them to create an incredibly versatile repertoire ranging from Jazz to Blues to R&B to Country to Gospel and more. Whether it’s breathing new life into timeless tunes or composing works of their own…Flat Nine loves to create. They’ve arranged tunes written by : Duke Ellington, Steely Dan, Paul Simon, Booker T Jones, The Beatles, Herbie Hancock, Amy Winehouse, Stevie Wonder and more.
What makes them distinctive is their focus on unusual harmony, progression and that all of their recordings are live, ONE TAKE. Their ability to captivate and engage an audience with their passion, vulnerability and soulfulness is remarkable. Their aim is to play music people want to hear, music that makes people feel relaxed, excited, envigorated, and perhaps become moved by the sounds and feeling that the music creates.
