The Chan Centre for Performing Arts at UBC presents the return of Mexican-American artist Lila Downs, April 26 at 7pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. Downs’ unique melding of musical styles, from traditional Mexican folk, true to her indigenous Mixtec heritage, to blues, jazz and rock, earned her a 2012 GRAMMY Award, as well as two recent wins at the Latin GRAMMY’s and invitations to such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, the Oscars, and the Latino Inaugural Ball for President Obama. With an electrifying program featuring songs from her March 2015 album release, Balas y Chocolate (Bullets and Chocolate), the sultry star and Chan Centre audience favourite will delight attendees with a spectacular and soul thrilling concert experience.
