“Light the light of our senses, pour love into our hearts.”
Written “as if in a fever” over the course of a summer, the 8th Symphony represents a pinnacle of Mahler’s talents, drawn together by the theme of transformative and unifying power of love.
A true choral symphony, this work will bring more than 250 musicians onto the stage of the Orpheum ranging in age from 11-80. From the opening rumble of the organ to the final triumphant cries of the trumpets, Mahler’s 8th Symphony is a work of monumental grandeur and passion.
