About Nicole Brown for West Vancouver School Trustee

Parents, students and residents should be confident that every student in our district is receiving an excellent educational experience that will help them develop into healthy, engaged citizens that are able to pursue the life path of their choice. Public education matters!

As a long-time resident of West Vancouver, I am a passionate advocate of education, literacy and community. I have been honoured to spend the past eight years on the West Vancouver Board of Education advocating for excellence in public education.

I graduated from Sentinel High School and hold a B.A. in Political Science from the University of BC. I also completed a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from the Schulich School of Business at York University and received a CAAP (Communication and Advertising Accredited Professionals) designation from the Institute of Communications Agencies. My professional background involved marketing and sales for Rogers’ E-Media division with a focus on online educational database products for K-12 schools, colleges and public libraries across Canada.

I spent nine years with the West Vancouver Memorial Library as a Trustee and then Chair of the Library’s Foundation 2004-2013. I also served as PAC Chair for Ecole Pauline Johnson and on the DPAC Executive.

My Priorities for Education
Empower Students Through Choice:
West Vancouver School District has developed a remarkable number of specialty programs that enable students to chart a unique path within the framework of our public school system. French and English International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement (college level accreditation), Skilled Trades (Carpentry), Robotics, Yoga, Entrepreneurship, Honour Choir and S.A.F.E. First Aid are just a few of the programs in place today that students can choose to pursue. It is a point of pride that our school district is the furthest thing from a ‘one size fits all’ model.

Outdoor Education:
This gives students the opportunity to explore the outdoors and bring to life the importance of environmental stewardship and outdoor preparedness alongside Leave No Trace I and First People’s principles. This accredited physical health and education program offered in grades 10-12 empowers youth to confidently navigate and safely enjoy Supernatural British Columbia (and beyond) for years to come.

Integrated Science:
Presents an interdisciplinary approach to the study of biology, chemistry and biochemistry. Students engage with academic institutions and science organizations across the North Shore conducting field studies and collaborating with a variety of experts. Completion of the program earns students full credit for both Pre-AP Chemistry and Life Sciences 11.

I live in Cypress Park with my husband Robert, a geologist and our two children that graduated from Sentinel in 2020 and 2022, Connor and Natalie.

The residents of West Vancouver need experienced trustees to ensure the healthy future of our school board and students, please re-elect me on October 15th, so I can continue to focus on our students and schools.
