Back again by popular demand – Paint on the Mountain 2019!
Now in our fourth consecutive year, British Pacific Properties is pleased to host our signature Plein Air Art Competition Paint on the Mountain in association with the 2019 Harmony Arts Festival.
Once again, this 3-day Plein Air competition will begin Saturday morning, August 3rd at 10 AM, with the Grand Prix Plein Air Challenge hosted by the Ferry Building Gallery. Registration is open to all artists, including last year’s Paint on the Mountain participants. All those wishing to participate in Paint on the Mountain must also participate in the District of West Vancouver’s Grand Prix Plein Air Challenge.
The theme this year for the Grand Prix is Waterfront: A Sense of Place. All artists will be asked to produce one piece of artwork, on theme, with submissions due by 2 PM, Saturday (August 3rd). Jurors will select the top 12 artists to continue on to the Paint on the Mountain Plein Air Challenge starting as early as that evening (should artists wish).
Come view the artists in action! On Sunday, August 4th 11am – 2pm we welcome the community to drop by the BPP Site Office just off Cypress Bowl Road to pick up your sandwich, water and trail map to head into the woods to watch these talented artists create! Proper walking/hiking shoes are required.
Heads up – if you’ve been to this community festival in past years at McGavin Field, this year the event will be on a smaller scale, down the road at the BPP Site Office due to the unavailability of McGavin Field.
The top 3 winners will be announced on the Main Stage on Monday evening, August 5th, at 5:45 PM by British Pacific Properties President, Geoff Croll, and awarded cash prizes, including a gift card to Opus for the new People’s Choice Award. All 2019 Paint on the Mountain artists will then have an opportunity to showcase their work inside the British Pacific Properties Harmony Arts Festival Exhibit Tent for the duration of the festival.
