Event Details

Fox Cabaret

“High octane stuff that has appropriately sprung from the old hippie enclave of Vachon Island outside Seattle… utterly wild and world wise.” – Midwest Record Entertainment

“Afrobeat collective with guest vocalists rev up the hip-hop for a scorching and danceable set of tunes.” – review by John Powell –

Publish The Quest was such a hit at North Shore Jazz last year that we decided to bring them back for more. This Seattle-based music project captures audiences with its unique sound, socially conscious lyrics, Afro-beat elements and folk-rock influences and have created an eclectic, North West Coast blend of electric hip hop world pop. The group’s passion for social and musical outreach has taken them around the globe and led them to work with nonprofits such as Learn Africa. Publish the Quest has also made several trips to Cape Verde, Zimbabwe, Mali, Poland, Portugal and Spain, where band members have played in festivals and music halls, recorded with local artists, and conducted music workshops and jam sessions with under-privileged children. Join us for a fun-filled night of dancing at Vancouver’s’ funky Fox Cabaret with this socially conscious group of folk rockers.

Special Guest – John Welsh Band

With a sound that blends high energy Latin, West African, reggae and folk rock rhythms the John Welsh Band gets crowds moving wherever they perform. A world traveller by nature, John Welsh lived and studied in Mexico and Guatemala where he was heavily influenced by the music, language and culture. After 5 years of playing and recording with various bands he and brother Chris(bass) met Nigerian born Courage Eigbike who brought his reggae and West African influenced sound. Together they began creating songs that would get crowds dancing and singing along with the vision of bringing their world music sound to a mainstream audience. For more information visit:
