Dianna David: This self-taught dancer expresses her genius through movement storytelling, creating one-acts, full length solo shows and customized pieces with underlying messages for self-empowerment and delight. Whether it’s performing or teaching, she promotes the “Yes, I can too” attitude. She has become a well recognizable artist in Vancouver’s entertainment industry, pushing the limits of innovative performance that can reach a universal audience in a unique and creative way by fusing traditional techniques with simple modern technology. Her style is “Classically Quirky with an Urban Twist”. She has seamlessly embodied the humility of her Filipino upbringing, the explosive moves from her Hip Hop dance, the exquisite control of mime traditions, and the connective vulnerability of clown. Her style sleeks impact through simplicity, expressing messages that allow the audience to take home new perspectives of life like “Save the last dance…for you”, or “To Think is to Create”, or “Take a Closer Look”. She has been invited to perform for the Performance Mix Festival in New York, Toronto’s Lunacy Cabaret, Edmonton Street Performers Festival as well as local events such as Cirque du Soleil’s Opening Gala, Tomorrow Collective’s Brief Encounters 9 and 11; the lead clown for several company productions such as Inner Ring Circus’ touring show BOUNCE; as well as commissioned acts Cirque du Chocolat for Microsoft, and performances on the Giant Piano for Telus World of Science’s Disney exhibit.
