The Lions Bay Olympic Rally and Community Picnic / Madison Mailey

Event Details

Join Lions Bay, as the seaside village celebrates its homegrown Olympian, Madison Mailey. A Northeastern alum of the women’s rowing team, Madison is representing Team Canada at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games. This will be the largest Canadian rowing team in the past 25 years.

Lions Bay is very proud to support Madison and has planned this event to celebrate. The Lions Bay Olympic Rally and Community Picnic will happen on July 23rd from 6-8pm at the Lions Bay Community School.

Attendees, Lions Bay residents and their invited guest are asked to wear red and white Olympic colours, pack a picnic and chairs and join together in support of Madison and in celebration of the Opening Ceremonies in Tokyo. Parking availability will be very limited, so guests are asked to take transit.

The event will feature speeches by dignitaries, including Lions Bay mayor Ron McLaughlin, MP Patrick Wieler, and John Smart, two-time Olympian and former Lions Bay resident. Tributes to Japan, and Canada and former Lions Bay Olympic residents will be enjoyed along with live music and pavilions for the kids with Olympic colouring activities.

Says Lions Bay Mayor Ron McLauglin “The Olympics are coming and we take note, because Madison Mailey follows a rich tradition of members who represented our tiny Village on a global stage. Go Madison and all our Olympians!”
