The Mammy Christmas Variety Special is an annual fundraising event held by a group of talented North Shore artists in support of a loved one living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Eleven years ago, Joe Cox was wondering what to give his Mom for Christmas.  He decided to assemble a group of his talented friends to put on a small show in honor of his Mammy.  In the carport of the home she lived in at the time, the very first Mammy show took place.  It featured comedy and music, poetry reading and improv, installation art and dance,  and whatever impromtu performances the group could come up with on the spot.  The performers had such a blast that everyone agreed to surprise her and do it again the next year. The decision was made to use the show’s positive reception as a way to spread awareness and raise funds to help support Mammy in her journey with MS.

Since then, the lovingly dubbed Mammy Show has grown in size and spectacle.  Featuring some of those original artists who now work on stage and screen in Canada and around the world, the bar has consistently been raised from one year to the next.  2015 marks the 11th anniversary of the very first show in that carport, and the celebration will be one full of surprises, amazing talent and a whole lot of love.
