The Ivory Emperor, the Black Liberace, Lil Booker, Little Chopin in Living Color…whatever you want to call him, James Booker was a legend in New Orleans Jazz circles, a larger-than-life character, with one-eye, and some serious musical chops. By the time he was 16, he had started a professional career, playing with the likes of Little Richard, Aretha Franklin, and Ray Charles.
“A textbook case in which personal eccentricities and addictions collide with musical brilliance… A must-see for aficionados of New Orleans jazz, it’s also accessible to viewers who don’t know a Professor Longhair from a Dr. John” – Hollywood Reporter
Tickets: $12
The evening’s programming will be approximately 100min.
