Vancouver Romanian Association invites you to a special Woman’s Day Concert with Romanian Legends Irina Loghin and Gheorghe Gheorghiu. The concert will feature Jean Paler and the band Alesis. The concert will be held on Sunday, March 16 at the gorgeous Kay Meek Centre in West Vancouver. Don’t miss this amazing 3.5 hour concert with one of Romania’s favorite folk daughters.
Irina Loghin, an icon of the Romanian Folk Music, began her singing career in her 20s and has since become a myth, a legend. Her career began after winning a music contest in 1963 and joined the Ciocarlia Ensemble (Ansamblu Ciocarlia). A few years later, in 1967, Irina Loghin joins forces with another legend in Romanian folk music, Benone Sinulescu. Throughout the year, her music entertained the nation. Gheorghe Gheorghiu, a symbol in its own right among Romanian Folk singers. Throughout his career, he was part of important movements in Romanian music culture, including Cenaclul Flacara and Cenaclul Astra. In 1975, Gheorghe Gheorghiu won the Folk National Music Festival after which he was invited to joined Cenaclul FLACARA. His commitment to music made him start the Cultural Foundation “Gheorghe Gheorghiu” and Spirit Studio Production.
