Jane Austen’s Persuasion depicts a young woman’s struggles with love,
friendship and family. Anne Elliot who is pretty, intelligent and amiable,
had some years before been engaged to a young naval officer, Frederick
Wentworth, but had been persuaded by her trusted friend Lady Russell to
break off the engagement, because of his lack of fortune. Now, more than
seven years later, Wentworth has returned to the neighborhood, a rich man
and still unwed. This sets the scene for many humorous encounters as well
as a second, well-considered chance at love and marriage for Anne in her
second “bloom”. Runs April 1, 2019 to April 20, 2019
