Bard on the Beach 2026 Season

Vancouver’s Shakespeare Festival will return this summer with a terrific line-up of  live performances. This season promises a captivating exploration of comedy, tragedy, and myth, offering innovative interpretations of classic stories.

Playing in repertory on the BMO Mainstage is Rebecca Northan’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, a high-energy, music-infused comedy set in a soccer-loving suburb, running alongside Stephen Drover’s stark and intensely bloody production of Macbeth.

Over in the Douglas Campbell Theatre, audiences can catch the wildly successful Goblin: Oedipus—a riotous and irreverent adaptation created by Rebecca Northan, Bruce Horak, and Ellis Lalonde. It will share the stage with Antigone, adapted by Kate Besworth and directed by Ming Hudson, which brings a raw, urgent, and contemporary perspective to the ancient tragedy.
