Louise Perrone’s jewellery is displayed more frequently in the gift shop than the gallery; however, most visitors to art museums are more likely to purchase a postcard, pencil, or pin than a painting. Fruits of My Labour explores the relationship between these spaces, the people who visit them, and the transactions within them. Fruits of My Labour will present new works in an installation of fruit shaped jewellery objects, made from decorative plastic fruit covered in recycled swimsuit lycra, displayed on mirrored surfaces. The installation also examines how jewellery is worn, displayed, photographed, and viewed, inviting visitors to consider what jewellery conceals and reveals about the maker, wearer, and themselves.
To November 25, 2021 at Granville Island.
